Ski Hill Lodge

The Ski Hill Historic Lodge is an important gathering place for the Leavenworth community and its visitors, serving as a year-round hub for recreation, events, and connection. Rooted in local history, the Lodge strengthens community ties while welcoming visitors and supporting the cultural and recreational vitality of Leavenworth.

Ongoing Efforts

The Leavenworth Ski Hill Foundation is engaged with the LWSC to support the operation, maintenance and preservation of the historic Leavenworth Ski Hill Lodge. This lodge was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1936 and has been operated by the LWSC virtually since its completion. The Lodge needs repairs and updating to ensure it remains a place for the community to gather well into the future. Efforts are needed to preserve the structure, and other efforts are needed to make the lodge a viable venue for year round use.

Projects being investigated include:

 

  • Replacement of deteriorated logs

  • Cleaning and refinishing the exterior and interior of all logs

  • Chinking the exterior of the structure (never completed)

  • Replacing chinking in the interior of the lodge

  • Window replacement with new energy efficient windows to meet current
    energy codes

  • Opening the interior ceiling space to the original ceiling and insulating the roof

  • Replacement of the existing heating system with a ducted heat pump
    system

  • Updating the kitchen to expand the menu options and to improve
    operational efficiency

  • Completion of the Lodge patio project stone surfacing work

Past Accomplishments and Efforts:

 

  • Kubota ATV – funded the purchase of the Club’s Kubota ATV for low-snow year grooming operations

  • Deep fryer – Funded the countertop fryer for use at the Ski Hill Lodge to offer a means to generate income to support further Lodge operations

  • Groomer donations – Supported purchases of the Club’s snow groomers through generous donations to the LSHF

  • New ADA restrooms community donations

  • Lodge patio community donations

  • Fiscal supporter of numerous grants from organizations including:

    • ​Wellfund

    • Mission Ridge

    • North Central Washington Community Foundation

    • The city of Leavenworth

    • Sleeping Lady Foundation

    • Vail Resorts Charitable Fund

    • Many generous community members and businesses

    • Bevevity
